.:THE
WATCHTOWER SEVERS ITS 10-YEAR ASSOCIATION WITH THE UNITED
NATIONS AFTER PUBLIC EXPOSURE
For 10 years, from 1991 until October of 2001,
the Watchtower Organization was associated with the
United Nations as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO). What is an NGO?
"Over 1,500 NGOs with strong information programmes on issues
of concern to the United Nations are associated
with the Department of Public Information (DPI), giving the United Nations valuable links to
people around the world.... The Department of Public
Information and NGOs cooperate regularly. NGOs associated
with DPI disseminate information about the UN to their
membership, thereby building knowledge of and support
for the Organization at the grassroots level."
Proof of the Watchtower's association with
the United Nations as an NGO can be found in the following
documents:

Nations Letter (above) concerning the Watchtower's
association with them. For verification of the letter's

Watchtower was listed as "associated" with
the UN "DPI" (Department of Public Information)
This type of association with
the United Nations is significant because for many years,
the Watchtower has spoken out against the United Nations
in their literature claiming that it represents the
"Wild Beast" of Revelation 17. Regarding the
United Nations, in the year 2000 (one year before they
diassociated themselves from the UN) the Watchtower
claimed:
“The wild beast represents
the United Nations organization... Thus the
modern-day Assyrian (nations associated with the UN)
will deal Christendom a mighty blow and will crush
her out of her existence.”—Isaiah's
Prophecy - Light for All Mankind vol.
1, 2000, p. 153
Many non-religious news sources in the United
Kingdom and others reported on the Watchtower's quick
disassociation after the rank-and-file Jehovah's Witnesses
began to discover the Society's association in 2001:

THE
WATCHTOWER'S RESPONSE TO THE NEWS RELEASE:
In the Watchtower's
Rebuttal Letter, they claim that they needed to
associate as an NGO in order to gain access to the UN
Library, but this is untrue because ANYONE can have
access to the library regardless of whether they are
associated as a NGO or not. See the following links
on the public UN Website:

http://www.randytv.com/secret/lieforun.htm
The Watchtower also insinuates in their
letter that the Criteria for Association in 2001 contained
language that they could not subscribe to and as a result
they decided to disassocate themselves in October of
2001. If the 2001 criteria contained language they could
not subscribe to because it required them to support
and promote the ideals of the UN in its charter, what
do we do with the criteria of previous years that contained
the same language that they had seen no problem with
complying with in earlier years?
While it may be true that the registration papers which
the Watchtower needed to file with the United Nations
from 1991-2000 may not have contained any idolatrous
statements, the United Nations states in a 1992
letter (describing the requirements for
association right about the time that the Watchtower
had just joined as a NGO) that the terms and conditions
of being a UN NGO were that the organization needed
to "cooperate with the United Nations to help build
public understandind and support for United
Nations programmes and goals... To be granted
association status wiht DPI, NGOs must ... support
the Charter of the United Nations... and possess
the resources necessary for effective outreach."
What? Agree to support the Charter
of the United Nations -- the very organization the
Watchtower claims to be the "wild beast" of
Revelation? This very Charter required them to "give
the United Nations every assistance in any action it takes in accordance with the present
Charter." The Watchtower agreed to "support"
and "give assistance" to the "wild beast"
of Revelation? How can this not be compromise with the
Whore of Babylon (according to Watchtower doctrine)?
How can this not be a violation of the principles of
Neutrality they claim to have upheld?
